The National Monument or Indonesian people call it as Monumen Nasional or “Monas” is a 132 m tower in the centre of Merdeka Square, Central Jakarta, symbolizing the fight for Indonesia. It is the national monument of the Republic of Indonesia, built to commemorate the struggle for Indonesian independence.The monument and the museum are open daily from 8 a.m until 3 p.m (Western Indonesia Time) throughout the week except for the last Monday of each month when the monument is closed. The other legandary place near Monas is The Old Town of Jakarta (Kota Tua),which is a charming landmark that you should visit whilst in Jakarta, Indonesia. The place houses old buildings from when the country was colonized by the Dutch. In this two place, you can learn about the story of Indonesia while feel the atmosphere of the new-old Indonesia.
